Trader Vics Overview

From the original 1934 San Francisco Bay restaurant, Trader Vic’s has really made a name for itself and is everywhere. The restaurant is very Polynesian in theme with guys wearing flowery shirts and the girls in straw skirts (actually this could just be my imagination) but it creates a great atmosphere. It’s set in the La Alcazaba Housing complex, which doesn’t sound particularly nice but is fantastic, with inner tropical gardens, pools and rivers with bridges.
Trader Vic's boasts the largest and perhaps the most dangerous cocktail list on the Costa del Sol. I won’t go into them too much but they have been known to bring out the wild side of most and ask the head bar man David Sanchez for some special concoctions and recommends.
The Trader Vic's menu is far from short, with dishes from the wok, the wood fired oven including rack of lamb, chicken mandarin, barbequed duck breast and a fabulous Chateaubriand even curries are on offer. However the in-house speciality is the fish, with a number of dishes to choose from both for starter or mains; including salmon, sole, sea bass, monkfish tuna and the piece de resistance the Maine Lobster with lime beure blanc.
Trader Vic’s isn’t just open for dinner its also great for a chilled out light lunch where we often come to dine on the tidbits and finger food alone, digging in on the barbeque spare ribs, the jalapeno cheese balls with dip and the chicken skewers with pineapple. Perfect.

    Loving it

    Angela from UK

As the other review stated, absolutely great cocktails. Lovely setting and atmosphere (even if we did think the taxi driver was mad throwing us out in front of what we thought was a hotel) - it was going dark when we arrived and the patio area was lit with coloured parasols and candles - very atmospheric. Staff were really obliging and friendly - bar tender knocked up some great drinks with generous measures. It was our first visit to the area and Trader Vic's made it a fantastic experience - will definitely return. Even the way the food was presented showed care and attention to detail. Love it.
