Tai Pan is without doubt the finest Chinese restaurant in the Marbella region. The decor is amazing, blacks and reds combined with wood and soft lighting, you will feel instantly relaxed when you walk to your table. It is situated right next to the Puente Romano hotel, follow the steps down and it opens up onto a terrace that looks out over a luxurious pool and gardens.

When it comes to quality of ingredients, Tai Pan wins hands down over any other Chinese restaurant. Not only are the meats and fish the freshest and tenderest but so much thought goes into the presentation, rice ensconced in a lotus leaf and baked off in the oven, sweet and sour chicken served in a hollowed pineapple with fresh vegetables. I was amazed time and time again but for me, the piece de resistance was the fresh fish served in a light ginger and lime sauce. I have simply never seen fish cooked so delicately to the point where it melts in your mouth.

I was delighted at the subtle atmospheric music with the occassional chirp of an exotic bird. Everything in this restaurant is about subtlety, elegance and discretion. The waiters appreciate your time and quietly pace themselves to your dining speed. Most surprising of all is the lack of flowery description in the menu compared the work of art that comes to your table. Ask for sweet and sour chicken and you would never expect it to come in such a beautiful layout.

As part of a small restaurant group which includes Thai Gallery and Sukhothai, this is the only Chinese restaurant with the other two specialising in Thai food. All of them are divine and like I said in the other reviews, its impossible to choose but if its a fabulous Chinese restaurant you are looking for then Tai Pan will exceed your expectations.

Booking is recommended and if you are looking to come as a big group then we advise calling in advance and discussing your needs as Tai Pan can arrange the most impressive menu with an array of small dishes so that everyone tries everything.
